Vendor Sourcing & Factory Vetting
Most factories won’t discuss an order under a few thousand pieces. That single fact locks out an entire category of brand — the private label founder testing a first style, the boutique label that wants to grow gradually rather than gamble on a large first run. This program exists specifically for that gap.
How Factory Matching Actually Works
We do not run one general factory list and slot every order into whichever unit answers first. A denim order and a knitwear order do not belong in the same building, and a 100-piece private label trial run does not belong on the same line as a container-scale repeat program. Matching starts with what the factory is genuinely strong at — its machine list, its usual product category, and its real production capacity — not with who has room this week.
What Vetting Actually Checks
Before a new factory enters the network, we look at:
Machine list and capacity
Machine list and capacity — does the equipment on the floor match what your product needs, or is this a factory saying yes to a category it doesn’t usually run
Compliance standing
Compliance standing — audit history and certifications relevant to your target market
Sample quality on a trial order
Sample quality on a trial order — a factory’s first sample tells you more than its sales pitch
A backup vendor is also kept ready for repeat programs, so a single factory issue does not become your single point of failure.
Why This Matters More For Pakistan Specifically
Search “sourcing from Pakistan” and you’ll find genuinely mixed experiences — some buyers report excellent quality, others report factories that changed on them mid-order. That split is almost never about the country. It’s about whether someone vetted the factory and stayed accountable for the match. That accountability is the entire function of a sourcing agent, and it’s why this step comes before sampling, not alongside it.
Where This Fits In The Process
Vendor sourcing is step one of six in how we work — factory match, then sampling, then production. If your product is a private label run under 500 pieces, this step also determines which factories can realistically take an order that size — see Private Label & Low-MOQ for how that’s handled specifically.
